STORY BEHIND THE WATCH

The name The Meridian 1676 is inspired by one of London's greatest contributions to the world.


A meridian is an imaginary line that runs from the North Pole to the South Pole, used to measure longitude and navigate the world. The most important of these is the Prime Meridian, which passes through Greenwich, London and became the global reference point for measuring time.


In 1676, the Royal Observatory at Greenwich began its work, laying the foundations for what would eventually become Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), the universal standard that brought consistency to timekeeping across the world.
